Self Destruction…

After hearing about the death of Derrion Albert, and watching the video I seriously felt ill…like sick to my stomach seeing such young people act like savages…It puts things into perspective for me and I’m sure many others. POVERTY breeds HATE! Mostly SELF HATE!!!!

Just the entire event made me sad…I wish we could all just UNITE…stop this GENOCIDE!

Gamma Rays

This scene in School Daze was soooo monumental in my life. I remember totally wanting to grown up and have huge hair like that! I sooooooo loved the Gamma Rays! lmao!! For whatever reasons I had believed that all black people had seen the movie School Daze especially all that had a desire to be a part of a Black Greek Organization. But to my surprise during my “Process” I learned that one of my “Line Sisters” had never seen School Daze so of course the rest of us were on a mission to make it happen but all I could think of was the fact that she had missed out on such a monumental scene….such as the Gamma Rays amazing talent show performance….

1988-89ish!!!

Let me paint you a picture:

I was a little ass brat in 1988-89 but even then I knew what I liked! I remember rushing home so I could sit in front of our old ass floor model and watch Ralph Mc Daniels Video Music Box hoping to see my favorite video!!!! Supersonic by JJ Fad!!

In my seven year old mind I just knew that when I grew up I would be just like Baby D (squatting to your right in the pic) lmao!!! She was simply DOPE!!! She was really pretty and light skin like me (put not tooo light like Salt! She looked the most like me I had ever seen on tv) and she always had the best parts! lol I remember getting extra hype when her part came on…trying to mimic the dance routine and trying to learn the words! hahahaha!!!! JJ Fad was the SH*T!!!! And that’s when I feel in love with HIP HOP!!!!

The Door is open….come on in!

Hi Blog-ville! I decided to start this blog to document my journey in discovery of new things and the resurrection of old things I believe to be simply DOPE culture!
